March 2006 McArthurglen Bridgend joins forces with charity to support local war heroes

McArthurGlen Bridgend has launched a new partnership with the Royal British Legion after generous shoppers helped to raise more than £7,000 during the 2005 Poppy Appeal.

The national charity is to become the designer outlet's Charity of the Year for 2007 and members of the Bridgend branch of the Royal British Legion will be at the centre today to unveil a special plaque to mark the link up.

A cheque will then be presented to local Royal British Legion volunteers of money raised so far by staff and shoppers.

Richard Rawlings, centre manager for McArthurGlen Bridgend, said: "We're delighted and honoured to be teaming up with such a worthwhile cause next year. Everyone at McArthurGlen has been particularly generous and they've helped raise thousands of pounds for the charity so far. We now hope to collect much more and continue to support the Royal British Legion."

The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading charity providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.
