Day One

Morning

Start the day with a visit to Swindon Designer Outlet, housed in the beautifully renovated Grade II listed buildings of the Great Western Railway Works and is one of the largest covered designer outlets in Europe. Choose from over 90 high st and designer stores reduced by up to 60% everyday.

Lunch

After some well deserved retail therapy have a spot of lunch in one of the outlets coffee shops including Costa Coffee, O’Briens or enjoy traditional fish and chips from Harry Ramsden’s.

Afternoon

Visit the onsite STEAM - Museum of the Great Western Railway, birthplace of the world’s best steam locomotives. Families can experience the sights and sounds of the GWR works and learn about the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the Great Western Railway.

Evening

After a busy day relax and unwind in Swindon’s Old Town where you will find many fine eateries and café bars.

Day Two

Morning

Visit Lydiard House and Park one of Wiltshire's smaller stately homes and the delightful yet little-known ancestral home of the Viscounts Bollingbroke. Set in beautiful 18th century parkland visitors are free to wander throughout the elegant ground floor apartments with ornate plasterwork and original family portraits and furnishings. The Museum & Art Gallery boasts one of the most wide-ranging experiences of British 20th century art outside London.

Lunch

Take a short journey to Marlborough for a spot of lunch. Situated in the picturesque rural north-east of Wiltshire. Originating from a Saxon settlement, the town nestles on the edge of Savernake Forest, the only privately owned forest in Britain. Marlborough has one of the widest high streets in England and is renowned for its high quality shops.

Afternoon

Just six miles from Marlborough lies Avebury, world-famous stone circle at the heart of a prehistoric landscape. Avebury is a World Heritage Site operated by the National Trust. It is One of Europe's largest prehistoric stone circles, voted one of the top five most spiritual places in the country with a fantastic landscape of monuments to walk within. The museum tells the story of the stone circle and the people who shaped it, through archaeology and modern interactive.
